Idli Upma

Recipe courtesy - vanitha 
Ingredients:-
Idli - 5 nos
Onion chopped - 1/4 cup
Green chilli chopped- 2 nos
Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
Ghee
Asafetida / Hing - a large pinch
Salt to taste
Mustard seeds
Curry leaves
(Below are optional items )
Grated carrot - 1/2 cup
Cooked peas - 1/4 cup
Cashew nuts and raisins - 2tsp
Method :-
Cut idli into medium size pieces
Heat Ghee in a pan and fry cashew nuts and raisins and set aside
in the remaining ghee add mustard seeds and let them pop up.then add curry leaves
Stir in chopped onion,green chilies and sauté well .
( If using Add Grated carrot and peas and sauté well,stirring frequently)
Now add chili powder,turmeric powder and salt
Add idli pieces, sprinkle hing and toss it well and cook for 3-4 minutes,by sprinkling a little water
Garnish with fried cashew nuts and raisins and
Serve Warm.

Hmm. .. . .Idli upma, sounds (and looks) interesting. Must try this out. Should be better than the normal Idli chutni. . . .

When i was living at home i never knew aobut this idlie upma, it is only after starting to blog i knew aobut it.
Which is a pity as it always looks so so yumm, just than i have never made ildlies.

That idli upma looks so yum....Its a shame i never made idlis even once just cos my husband hates idlis!!!
Enjoy ur trip....I know new hampshire is a beautiful place to enjoy fall....My friend lives there....She had send some amazing snaps of the fall....they are truly mesmerising!!!

idli upma is a new recipe.

Idli and upma... I hope when it is said upma it sounds good.

If we say this in malayalam it will be "idli upmavu", which depicts that this idli had uppu when was the mavu paruvam...

:)

I think yours will not have that uppu in the idli mavu...
