Serves - 4
Total cooking time :- 30 minutes plus soaking time
Ingredients:-
Black Chickpea (kadala) - 1/2 cup
Raw Plantain - 2 medium
Yam diced - 1 cup
Red chilli powder - 1/4 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Green chillies - 5-6
Salt to taste

Grated coconut - 1 cup
Garlic - 1 clove
Cumin seeds - 1/4 tea spoon
Black pepper whole - 5-6

Shallots sliced thin - 1
Curry leaves -1 sprig
Grated coconut - 2-3 tablespoons

Method:
Soak black chickpea with enough water for 6-8 hours.Cook in a pressure cooker till done( 3-4 whistles) by adding salt to taste.
Peel clean and dice the raw plantains into 1.5 inch cubes.
In a heavy bottomed pan cook cubed plantain and diced yam with 1/4 tea spoon red chili powder , 1/4 tea spoon turmeric and 5-6 slitted green chiles and just enough water until tender. Mix well with a wooden spoon.
Grind all in Bowl 1 to a coarse paste. Add this coconut paste and cooked chickpea to the cooked vegetables and mix well. Bring to simmer for a couple of minutes or until everything is combined well and heated through. Remove from heat and set aside
Prepare the tempering and fry grated coconut along with it until brown and pour over the cooked curry.
Serve warm
